Where is the Water Department office located?
Our office is located on the first floor (east end) of the City Hall building located at 229 West Okmulgee Avenue.
How can I contact someone if I have a water emergency after normal business hours?
For after hours water emergencies, please call 918/682-6602 Option 1. Please be aware a $65.00 charge may apply.
How do I start/stop water service?
Will I need to pay a deposit?
Each utility account is required to have a deposit. Residential accounts will be required to pay $50.00 at the time the account is established. The account will then be billed $10.00 for the next five (5) billing cycles to satisfy a total deposit amount of $100.00.
When will my utility deposit be refunded?
Your utility deposit is refunded at the time the account is terminated. Deposits can not be "held" for future service.
My water service is scheduled to be cut off within 48 hours, can I still pay my bill online or by phone?
If your utility account is scheduled for cutoff for non-payment within the next 48 hours, payment MUST be made at our Payment Center located at 113 S. Third for immediate credit to your account to prevent interruption of services. NOTE: Payment made by phone or online WILL NOT prevent cutoff as it may take up to 48 hours to be posted to your utility account.
What information do I need to pay my utility bill online?
- Your account number.
- Your credit card number including the security code on the back of your card.
- A valid email address.
Why is there a convenience fee?
Paymentus Corporation charges a fee to use their service. The fee covers handling and processing charges. Paymentus will charge a $1.95 convenience fee for each online or telephone payment up to $300. Payments over $300 must be split into multiple payments, each incurring a $1.95 convenience fee.
The City of Muskogee does not receive any part of the convenience fee. Paymentus Corporation is an independent company providing a service for the City of Muskogee
How long will it take for my payment to post to my utility account?
If your payment is made through the Paymentus website or via Paymentus phone serivce PRIOR to 7:00 p.m., your payment will post to your utility account on the same day of business. If you payment is made AFTER 7:00 p.m., it will post on the next available day of business. If your utility account has a past due amount or is scheduled for cutoff, you may not be able to utilize the Paymentus service and you will need to make your payment at our Payment Center (113 S. Third) for immediate credit to your account.
Do I have to pay my utility bill online?
The City of Muskogee is providing online utility bill payment as an option in addition to several ways you may currently pay your bill: in person at the payment center, by mail, and by bank draft.
Is it safe to pay online?
It is completely safe to pay your bill online with Paymentus Corporation's secure server.
Am I allowed to turn my water on/off at the meter?
Only authorized City personnel and/or a licensed plumber is allowed to turn on/off water service at the meter for repairs. If you have an emergency and need your water service cut off for repairs, please contact our offices Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am through 4:30 pm (no charge) or the emergency after hours number (918-682-6602 option 1) for a technician to perform this service. An after-hours fee of $65.00 may apply.
NOTE: It is unlawful for anyone other than the stated above to be inside the meter can. Failure to follow this process could result in a Tampering Fee of $100.00. If services have been cutoff for non-payment, services can not be turned back on until after the delinquent amount is paid at the Payment Center and a Water Department technician has restored services.
